Hello Sunshine!
What a welcome back the sun has given us! We hope you all had a lovely Summer break! As you will all remember we sadly had to postpone the Summer Fayre back in July due to the wet and very windy weather and we are super excited that it has been re-scheduled to this Sunday. Our (End of) Summer Fayre is set to be a scorcher and an afternoon filled with family fun.
Friday
Please bring an unopened bottle as a donation towards the tombola, this can be any bottle… squash, bubble bath, wine, spirits. Please take your donation to the Hall foyer between 8.30 and 9am on Friday (tomorrow) morning. Our tombola is a popular game and generates lots of much needed funds, so the more bottles we have the more people can join in the fun.
On the day…
Please arrive from 11.30am to ensure enough time to enter through the gates so the children from Year 1 – Year 6 can be ready to sing at 12. The children are to gather by the nearest rugby poles with Mrs Cornish and will be singing the ever popular “Shotgun” by George Ezra and “Sing from your Heart” after being introduced by Amy Williams MBE.
No tickets are required, but adults will be charged a £1 entrance fee on the door, payable by cash, card and phone – children enter for free.
For safety reasons no visitor vehicles will be allowed into or out of the Rugby Club from 11.30am until 3.30pm. If you wish to book one of the limited disabled parking spaces please email combedownpta@gmail.com before 3pm on Saturday 9th.
No dogs are allowed on the pitch for the duration of the Fayre.
Donations on the day..
We are accepting kind donations of nut-free baked goods to be sold on the day. Please bring any cakes to the Tuck Shop located in front of the Club House between 11.30am and 12.
Due to the fantastic weather forecast it would also be very helpful if people could freeze a plastic pot filled with water to create a giant ice cube. Please bring any donated homemade ice cubes to the PTA bar, in front of the Club House (we won’t need the pot, just the ice cube thank you) and help keep the beers cool.
All the fun of the Fayre…
We are absolutely thrilled to confirm that none other than the illustrious Amy Williams, the British former skeleton racer and Olympic gold medallist, will be the esteemed opener of our Fayre and will introduce the children to sing at 12. Get ready to be serenaded by live music from the amazing Orchestra of Everything, and we have some amazing live demonstrations from Combe Down Rugby, Roman Boxing Gym and Baskervilles School of Gymnastics.
FOOD AND DRINK - There will be a BBQ serving burgers, a German Sausage Stand, the Tuck Shop selling crisps, sweets and cakes, a Pop Corn and Candy Floss Stall, The Bar will be serving canned cider and beer as well as cold drinks and Slush Puppies and finally we have an Ice Cream Cart.
The Bar, BBQ and Tuck Shop will be accepting payment by card, phone and cash, and cash and phone payments will be accepted at all PTA run stalls, however it will also be possible to get cash back from the PTA HQ situated at the main entrance.
There are also a selection of inflatables, lots of fayre games, the tombola and local business stalls all helping us to fundraise for the PTA.
